Deptford Dub Club: Wassie One Special
The Fox and Firkin, SE13 6JZ , [Venue Details]An evening of music of Jamaican origin including Ska and vintage Reggae, but focusing this month on Rocksteady. With rhythms provided by a tag team of stand out selectors niced up by live vocals, horns percusion and MCs. Also featuring music piped to a glorious extensive garden for Autumn chilling
Our headliner is the great Wassie One, who is a long-time stalwart of the London Roots Reggae scene. Wassie always plays up a storm. Whether in a full, traditional Soundsystem contexts, or in club environments, he can be relied upon to produce the goods every time. The mighty Wassie spins a rich and wide spectrum of music of Jamaican origin; from Ska and Rocksteady “Gram Favourites”, to the hardest Roots Reggae. He’s also consistently, highly, entertaining multi-talented performer; chatting ebulliently on the mic., whilst simultaneously spinnin’ da riddims.
Throughout proceedings our resident Sing-jay, the mighty Doc Murdoc will be on hand to nice-up the dance. He, and the club’s resident selector, Soft Wax, recently supported Black Uhuru and together they’ve grace many of the capital’s stages and far beyond. For this day they will be joined by the D.D.C.s live horn section, including Club favourites Tombone and Michael. Warm-up selection will come from the one and only OneDanVesta.
We’re looking forward to another blinding evening of live mixes from the great Prince Fatty on the desk. The garden is a favourite chill out zone for Club regulars. Put on your dancing shoes.
